Eclectic Music eXtravaganza (EMX) is a collective of an international array of musicians who produce very eclectic chamber music concerts, music salons for the 21st century. These artists stage an event that is beyond genre boundaries, a diverse jam session between jazz, rock, electronic and contemporary classical music. For their July 12th ‘New York Meets Berlin’ concert, which starts of their European, EMX ensemble consists of six virtuoso musicians: Franz Hackl – trumpet, Peter Krysa– violin, Gene Pritsker – guitar/Di.J., Kai Schumacher – piano/synth., Philipp Bernhardt – drums/percussion and featuring the renowned artist/composer/pianist Mark Kostabi.
The program will consist of new music written by the ensemble members. Including the premiere of ‘Kostabi-isms’ (based on aphorisms of Mark Kostabi) and ‘Sentient’ by Gene Pritsker, a new arrangement of Kostabi’s ‘Midnight and the Morning Star’, Pritsker’s jazz fusion inspired ’Disruptive Forms of Nonsense II’ a new solo piano composition by Kai Schumacher. A new concerto by Pritsker written for guest baritone saxophonist Christoph Enzel called ‘Larva’. The concert will also include guest performers /composers Zachary M. Seely and Michiko Saiki.
